Rebel is also a line bred Kuykendall dog. As with Joe, 3 out of 4 lines in his pedigree are very similar with ¼ out. Rebel is sired by Red who is a dog that will walk right up to a cow and take her on the nose, turn her and hit her on the heel. Red’s sire is Jake who is a littermate to Salt who is seen on the successful Joe X Salt crosses. Rebel’s dam Bonnie was a very hard bitch. Hard to handle on the trial field she did not have a very successful trial career. She was a well made dog who earned her champion conformation points in just a few shows in the summer of 1996.
After raising several litters and keeping some wonderful offspring, Bonnie was sold to a gentleman in Iowa who uses her on a flock of Suffolk Sheep, club lambs and hogs. You could say Bonnie is in “hog heaven”. Again another well made dog, Rebel is designed to work. He is very competitive dog. His straight forward approach and his no quit mentality make him fit right in with the line of dogs we are maintaining in our breeding program. Matings back to both lines are putting excellent working dogs on the ground.
