Moss is an individual who came to John Thomas because no one could handle him. After attempting to run Moss at a trial his owner came off the field and told John that he was going to give him that dog! John refused the offer saying , “when I get him going you’re going to want him back“. The gentleman assured John this would not be the case. To prevent it from happening John reached into his pocket, pulled out a penny and paid Harry for the dog.

Thus the nick name John used for years - referring to Moss as his Penny dog. A number of people told John he would never get him going. Proving them wrong , before too long John had him placing and winning in open trials , taking him all the way to winning the English National in 1999.

A very useful dog on the farm, he works all types of stock willingly. He’s a very powerful made dog, wide and deep in his chest. Currently 13 years old Moss is still doing farm work, serving bitches and doing some demo work. A dominant individual, he commands respect from those who try to work him as well as the animals that he works. His pups exhibit a great deal of style in their work.
