Ben is a medium coat, prick ear, tri-color, medium size dog. His sire is Gawcombe Ben who was the last son JR Thomas kept from his dog Coon - ISDS 169984. Coon was sired by John’s Don -ISDS 108889 by International Supreme Champion Craig - ISDS 59425. Ben’s dam is Judy. (Shown Here) Henry trialed Judy very successfully as a two year old on both cattle and sheep. She had the ability to move from sheep to cattle quite easily and would gladly take cattle either on the head or heel.
Ben shows a great deal of promise. His approach to the stock is very good. He shows a lot of drive, head and will walk right up to the stock nose to nose. Perhaps, not the most intelligent dog we’ve ever started, much like his dam - what he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in drive, tenacity, and gusto. He favors his sire in build, approach to the stock and the use of his body to block stock. Ben will be a dog who will work all types of stock. He has a very good temperament, doesn’t hold a grudge and is always happy.

Rebel |
Rebel is a ¾ bred old line Kuykendall dog containing ¼ Mirk. A strong made, large dog: he is extremely correct on his feet and legs. He has a large, deep wide chest cavity with a well sprung rib. He is built to work! His ancestors have all lived to be 16 or older. An extremely competitive dog, he has to be first when running with other dogs. He uses lots of eye and style with his work and approaches the stock straight on. A dog with no back up and tremendous drive, he is very typical of this line.
Pic is sired by JR Thomas’ Coon, who was out of the last litter sired by Don - ISDS 108889. Don the winner of many open trials in Wales and England, also competed for John in One Man & His Dog, at English National and at the International Supreme. Pic’s dam is Kuykendall’s Kip (litter sister to Tom Forrester’s Bud) who is sired by Mirk out of the old line Kuykendall female - Kelly. Pic is a very willing worker. She likes to work on her feet and exhibits a great deal of heading instinct. She is very correct in her physical makeup exhibiting a deep, wide chest with lots of lung capacity.
Similar matings to a ¾ sister and to Pic’s dam are working stock in OR, MD, IL, OH, VA, KY & NC.
