KUYKENDALL BORDER COLLIE DEMONSTRATIONS
Over the past 40 years, Henry along with his dogs have literally traveled the United States conducting Border Collie Demos. His approach to a demo is to inform and educate while providing an interesting program. Using his special line of dogs, Henry raises the publics awareness of the value of the dogs to today's livestock producers as these dogs use their instinct and herding ability to complete various tasks .
As Henry works the dog a speaker provides the audience with information about the Border Collie breed and explains how Henry uses the dogs at home. We illustrate how the dog is used to gather livestock, move it from one location to another, run stock through a working chute, the use of the dog to hold stock to you while you catch a ewe with a crook and examine it, pen stock in working area or load onto a trailer, and the use of the dog to separate the stock . He often will showcase a young pup to show instinct.
Henry and his dogs have worked for audiences at the Chicago International Livestock Exhibition, the Grand National Livestock Exhibition at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, The American Royal in Kansas City, the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Ma and currently does a two week stint at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY.
In addition they have conducted numerous demos at state fairs including Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Over the years you may have also seen Henry and his dogs at numerous Scottish Games, county fairs, colleges, schools and livestock organizations.
